3月11日，澳大利亚驻穗总领事康天慕一行来莞考察交流。市委常委陈志伟会见代表团一行，并就两地开展经贸、科技、人文等多领域务实合作和外事交流活动展开座谈交流。

陈志伟代表市委市政府向康天慕一行表示欢迎，并介绍了东莞经济社会发展情况。他表示，东莞地处中国开放程度最高、经济活力最强的粤港澳大湾区几何中心，制造业十分发达。当前，东莞正加快推进产业强市、外贸大市建设，着力打造市场化、法治化、国际化一流营商环境，持续扩大对外交流合作。东莞重视发展与澳大利亚的友好合作关系，希望在总领事的支持下进一步加强两地在经贸、科创和产业以及教育文化等领域的合作交流。

康天慕感谢东莞的热情接待。他表示，东莞是制造业名城，历史悠久、人文荟萃。东莞籍华侨华人为澳大利亚经济社会发展作出了重要贡献。澳大利亚各地和东莞合作基础良好、民间往来密切，合作潜力很大，希望双方在良好合作的基础上，进一步拓宽合作领域，推动合作共赢。

市外事局、市投促局、市工商联、市商务局、世界莞商联合会有关负责同志参加会见。

Chen Zhiwei Meets with Consul General of Australia in Guangzhou

On March 11th, Chen Zhiwei, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Dongguan Committee, met with Dr Timothy Kendall, Consul General of Australia in Guangzhou. Both sides discussed on strengthening practical cooperation and foreign exchanges in economy, trade, technology and people-to-people exchanges.

Chen Zhiwei extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Dr Timothy Kendall, and introduced the economic and social development of Dongguan. He said that Dongguan, a  highly-developed manufacturing industrial city, lies in the geometric center of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which is the most open and economically dynamic region in China. Currently, Dongguan is accelerating the development  of industries and foreign trade, striving to create a first-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized, and continuously expanding foreign exchanges and cooperation. Dongguan attaches great importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with Australia. It is hoped that with the support of Consul General, the two sides could further strengthen bilateral exchanges and promote pragmatic cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, technology and people-to-people exchanges.

Dr Timothy Kendall thanked Dongguan for the warm welcome. He said that Dongguan is a famous manufacturing city with a long history and rich cultural heritage. Overseas Chinese from Dongguan have made significant contributions to the economic and social development of Australia. There is a solid foundation and broad potential for cooperation and close people-to-people exchanges between Australia and Dongguan. It is hoped that both sides can further broaden cooperation fields and promote win-win cooperation.

Representatives of Dongguan Foreign Affairs Bureau, Dongguan Investment Promotion Bureau, Dongguan Federation of Industry and Commerce, Dongguan Commerce Bureau and World Dongguan Entrepreneurs Federation also attended the meeting.
