  • Gestamp Automocion, a famous multi-national Spanish auto parts manufacturing enterprise, has outlined a US$120 million plan to launch a car components production project in Dongguan’s Eco-industrial Park. The first stage of construction will begin this July and aims for production operations to begin in May 2013.

The project, with a construction area of over 70,000m2, will primarily manufacture high strength auto steel plates, but will supply a variety of products to local markets such as Volkswagon in Foshan and Citron in Shenzhen. Furthermore, Gestamp also plans to set up their South China headquarters in Dongguan.

Gestamp Automocion is a key tier one supplier for the automobile manufacturing industry, achieving an output value of €4billion in 2010. By the end of 2011, they had 68 factories and 15,000 employees around the world. Currently, Gestamp has set up an Asia-Pacific headquarter in Shanghai. Its factory in Kunshan has been in operation since November 2008. It also has factories in cities such as Shenyang and Chongqing. It has “hot forming” technology, which produces structural body parts such as the chassis and component bodywork. It is a leading global supplier for well-known automobile manufacturers such as Mercedes Benz, GM, Ford, and Volkswagon.
