  • From 9th to 11th July, a delegation of government and enterprise representatives led by Mr. Xu Jianhua (Dongguan's Party Chief) conducted a scientific exchange and economic trade inspection tour in Israel. The delegation visited "Better Place" electric car company and "Iscar" metal cutting group in the Matam hi-tech zone.

While visiting Iscar, Xu said that Dongguan could use Iscar as a reference model regarding industrial transformation and upgrading, and for insight on improving added value and core product competence through technological innovation. Following a presentation on the Better Place business model, Xu affirmed the active role of promoting electric cars in energy conservation and developing strategic rising industries. He said that Dongguan had a potentially huge market for automobile consumption. "We hope Dongguan can become a pilot area for Better Place's electric cars project in South China."

After inspecting Matam hi-tech zone, Xu pointed out that Matam realized high output via optimizing land use, which provided useful insight on dealing with land shortages in Dongguan.

The delegation also inspected the environmental demonstration project, "Treatec21 Industrial Waste Water Treatment Solutions Ltd." The two parties discussed matters relating to the "Sino-Israeli Industrial Park for International Collaboration in Science and Technology" in Dongguan. In this way, the delegation gained experience with Israel's leading environmental technologies group.

The delegation met with Mr. Shalom Simhon (the Israeli Minister of Industry, Trade and Labour) on the afternoon of 10th July. This was the second time both parties discussed the future development of Dongguan's Sino-Israeli Industrial Park since its founding earlier this year in May. Simhon said the Park provided an exchange platform for China and Israel, with the Israeli Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labour keen to provide strong support as always. "As the economic exchange between Dongguan and Israel continues to grow rapidly, the Park has promising prospects. Dongguan Government will proffer greater construction support to the Park and strive to develop it as a display platform for Israel’s advanced technologies, and to develop Dongguan's hi-tech and eco-friendly industries."
